Procedures for Installation
of the
TargaPro EcoGreen 66 Synthetic Turf System
Installation of a TargaPro Synthetic Turf Field requires the proper preparation of the sub base and base to support one of three installation modes. With respect to storm water management requirements, the base will be prepared to handle water management in one of three modes:
- the base is prepared for a an Evacuated Drainage solution utilizing our EcoFlo drainage blanket and thus providing a vertical to horizontal water collection and dispersal system -
- the base will be prepared for a standard infiltrated system with a field underdrain and collection system -
- the base will be prepared for a standard infiltrated system but with the addition of a perforated EcoFlo drain pad to handle any field saturation situations where the infiltration system cannot adequately handle the storm water and hence the field saturates and it is necessary to evacuate the water through the horizontal drainage pad to the perimeter collector and dispersal system.
See our detailed graphic explanation of Infiltrated vs Eacuated Drainage Systems.
Base Preparation for Vertical to Horizontal Drainage System
The TargaPro synthetic Turf (the replicated grass and drainage blanket) are to be installed over a laser graded subbase (rough graded to +/- 1”) and topped with a laser graded fine, with a perimeter collector drain system and perimeter anchorage system consistent with the requirements specified below depending upon the type of srainage system required.
Both the sub base and the fine base are to laser graded to a tolerance of ¼” maximum deviation under a ten foot straight edge utilizing a dual slope laser or GPS system. If the final finish base is to be treated with an impervious soil treatment, such as LiquidLiner™, such finish grade shall be regraded to a tolerance of ¼” maximum deviation under a 10’ straight edge.

___________TECHNICAL DATA__________
EcoFlo™ Dynamic Drainage Blanket
Minimum Physical Installation Requirements
-
Contractor shall use an electronic or staked grade grid, of not more than 25' separation, to establish finished grade of stone or other approved base, before installing the EcoFlo™ blanket.Stone or other approved base should not deviate from specified finish grade by more than 1/4" under ten ft. straight edge.
-
EcoFlo™ shall be installed along full end-to-end length of the field, perpendicular to the direction of slope. The 4’ wide rows should be installed starting at the crown(or highest grade elevation) and ‘shingled’ toward the lowest grade elevation(the protruding flange shall be placed on the highest elevation side, and the flanged edge of the subsequent roll shall be inserted completely under the un-flanged edge of the preceding row). The installation of the rows of EcoFlo™ shall continue in this manner until over the open stone of the perimeter collector drains, where a 2' or a 4’ wide row of pervious (perforated) EcoFlo™ (as appropriate to the engineering specifictions for the drainage) shall be placed, in the same manner. The impervious EcoFlo™ row nearest the collector drain shall be trimmed in width (from the un-flanged edge) to allow precise fit of full 4’wide pervious EcoFlo™, to anchorage line. The rows of EcoFlo™ shall be bonded and moisture sealed, using EcoFlo™Impervious Bonding Tape, as supplied by TargaPro, on all seams. All seams shall be sufficiently tight to leave no gaps or irregularities that could reflect through the synthetic grass surface, however, care should be taken to maintain a minimum ¼” separation to allow for thermal expansion. The drainage blanket may be temporarily held in place by stapling to wood nailer, every few feet.
-
Note: The flanged edge of a EcoFlo™roll must always butt with an un-flanged edge. Where two flanged edges meet due to slope transitions, such as at the crown of the field, one flange edge must be trimmed and removed to prevent a gap in the plane of the EcoFlo™ surface.
-
The dynamic drainageblanket shall consist of a high density, non-degradable, frustrumated, polystyrene derived core, sandwiched between a needle punched non-wovengeotextile on one side and a heat-bonded non-woven geotextile on the other side.
-
Total weight of blanket shall be a minimum of 32 oz/sy and capable of accepting a compressive load of 32,000 psf, without crushing and while maintaining measurable flow.
-
The EcoFlo™ DynamicDrainage Blanket shall have continuous, impervious core incorporating expansion joints every 10’. The drainage blanket so constructed, must provide a completely impervious underlayment, over the entire field area, when properly bound with impervious bonding tape; and must not wrinkle, wave, float, buckle or otherwise disturb the planarity of the artificial turf surface, even under the most elevated conditions for thermal expansion to be experienced at the site.
-
Thickness of blanket shall be a minimum of 0.5 inches

Installation of the TargaPro EcoGreen 66 Synthetic Turf Product
Recommended Synthetic Turf Installation Procedures
The replicated grass will be installed along the length of the field and cover the full width as shown in the engineering drawings. The carpet rolls are to be installed directly over the properly prepared dynamic drainage blanket base.
Extreme care should be taken to avoid disturbing the drainage blanket. The full width rolls shall be laid out across the field. Utilizing standard state-of-the-art bonding procedures, each roll shall be attached to the next. When all of the rolls of the playing surface have been installed, the sideline areas shall be installed at right angles to the playing field turf. Turf shall be attached, by industrial rustproof staples directly to the wood nailer, around the perimeter of field at maximum three-inch (3 inch) intervals.
The replicated grass rolls shall be installed so that tufted lines are placed as shown on manufacturer's drawing, which drawing shall be pre-approved by Purchaser prior to manufacture of replicated grass. The same drawing shall also show location of all optional in situpermanent lines or markings.
Immediatelyafter brushing with a motorized rotary nylon broom, the blended infill materialshall be spread evenly by using a drop or broadcast spreader (minimum 5 footwide), in multiple applications, each no more than 15% of the total application, at a uniform rate. Between applications, and just prior and subsequent to infilling, the area shall be brushed with the motorized broom. Infill depth will be a minimum of three fourths (3/4) inch to a maximum of one(1) inch.
